In Japan, the dragonfly symbolizes courage, strength, and happiness, and they often appear in art and literature, especially haiku. "Tombo" or dragonfly is also believed to be the spirit of the rice plant and a symbol of rich harvests. Dragonflies have traditional uses as medicine in Japan and China. Akitsushmi, which means Dragonfly Island, is an alternative name for Japan. This Japanese noren depicts the elegance and spirt of the dragonfly. Designed in rich hues of cinnamon and browns, it will enhance any doorway in your sacred space. Noren are traditional Japanese curtains, and are split in the middle so you can walk through a doorway easily. It has a closed top seam to insert a wooden or bamboo dowel for hanging. Made in Japan, of 100% polyester it measures 33" wide and 59" long.
