The dragon is a mythical creature that appears in many East Asian cultures. Depicted as a long, snake-like creature with four claws, it has long been a potent symbol of auspicious power in Chinese folklore and art. The dragon is also the embodiment of the concept of yang (male) and associated with the weather as the harbinger of rain and water believed to be the rulers of moving bodies of water, such as waterfalls, rivers, or seas. They can show themselves as water spouts (tornado or twister over water). Many Chinese people often use the term "Descendants of the Dragon" as a sign of ethnic identity. This colorful and unique hand painted Dragon shown in the clouds as the ruler of weather, has a beautiful silk brocade border, the top and bottom of the scroll is a dark blue silk brocade. This hanging wall scroll needs no frame and has wooden dowels. It measures 10 1/2" wide and 35" in length.
